Dominating

On the MSN website today you'll find quite possibly the most pathetic sports headline since "New Curling Champion Crowned." Referencing the latest triumph of the U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball team, the headline reads:

Dominating: U.S. Hoops Crush Angola by 36

In your face, Angola! Woo-hoo!

Beware, all you malnourished amateurs from war-torn third-world countries. Larry Brown's all-stars are on the prowl.

Come on Tony. Why the negativity? Everyone knows that the best basketball players come from war-torn third-world countries. Haven't you see the movie, "The Air Up There"?

Also, you must realize, the U.S. has faced stiff competition like that European nation and....that...other nation that we lost to. This must be wearing on our athletes. After all, they are not amateurs, they have to work for a living.

I liked a comment I read today on ESPN's website (I put in the asterisks):

Manu Ginobili scored 29 points to lead his nation to another victory over the **country that used to dominate the sport**, an 89-81 win in the Olympic semifinals Friday night.

Nice touch, that.
