Practicality
My thoughts on Pat Robertson's endorsement of Giuliani are over at the WORLD webzine.

Ouch!! That hurt right in the pocket book!
We must have been separated at birth. Too bad. Well at least we meet now.
Someday, truth and justice will reign.
For now I do what I can in my own little world. And experience Grace. I wish I could do more. But I am looking for a vision.
And go to the polls every November (well almost every November).
Even Pat Robertson is not satisfied with his choices. But.... This too is a sign of the Times.

Doesn't seem like either of these guys are in it for the American people.
In fact, there are only a few candidates(none of the front runners, that's for sure) seem to be in the presidential race for the American people.
I'd rather have Mitt Romney for president, even if he is a Mormon, than Giuliani who is completely devoid of most, if not all, moral standards.
Out of all the candidates(Democrat and Republican) Ron Paul seems to hold the most weight and love behind his words. He actually seems to care for the American people as a whole, not just his party.

My husband used me as an example to his marketing class, of how little old women (and some middle-aged women) are driven to spittle-n-foaming at the mention of Hillary Clinton. An example of bad "branding", I am STILL incensed about her cookie remark from Bill's first campaign. With her assumption that because I stay home and bake cookies therefore I'm stupid or lazy. (deleted long crazed tirade about that woman)
YET, I've considered voting for her. The Devil Herself, so to speak. If it comes down to her and Guiliani. Pretty much, they're the same philosophically. Want to talk seriously practical? Look ahead to the next next election. If either one of them wins this time, things will be in a mess. The President will be blamed. The tide will swing against the President's party. I'd rather the blame comes crashing down on the liberals than on the conservatives (which is what Guiliani is mascarading as).
I'm not too alarmed yet, though. We still have plenty of time to pray and campaign for Fred :)

Sometimes, I think, we're just a little too pragmatic.
Ants, they say, have a rigid set of principles that guide their actions; without fail. They're too dumb, it's said, to rationalize their actions and breach those principles.
Perhaps, if we humans weren't so stinking intelligent, and would rather allow our principles to guide our actions (as opposed to the "if-I-vote-for-this-guy-who-has-no-chance-then-this-terrible-woman-might-get-in-so-I'll-vote-for-this-other-guy-instead" rationalizations that we get caught up in), perhaps we'd actually end up with some morally sound, trustworthy leaders.
Alas, though...sometimes we're just too smart for a our own good.

On a different group....Tony what do you know about Mike Huckabee?
Posted by: angela at November 14, 2007 8:52 AM

PJ, of course I think you're on to something.
Angela, I don't know much about him. What little I've read suggests that he's more aligned with Christian principles, and perhaps less of an anti-tax, pro-market guy. That creates an wonderful dilemma for Christians who are Republicans -- do you vote for the man who appeals more to your faith principles, or to your market principles?
You can probably guess where I stand on that.
