Room with a View

Alert reader Lori sent me this telling picture from a home listing. Apparently HBO is more entertaining than God.

Oh, please tell me this is fake.

And I know I should not be psychoanalyzing you, because you are Tony, and you write for WORLD and talk on radio shows and stuff. But I am just wondering what has changed in your life that you are now posting pictures and videos and stuff. Not that I don't like it. It freaks me out. Did you just get DSL or something?

And apparently one big-screen television is insufficient, so they hold another small one in reserve. Distracted from distraction by distraction...

2 televisions and a dct6235 digital set top box to boot no less.

Kill your television.

Danielle,

I'm not completely opposed to change, just slow to change. Now if I can only figure out how to post a new picture in place of the one with just the three Woodlief boys...

Tony,
This is a very interesting post that you made today (for me personally). Today was the day that I called comcast and cancelled my cable and broadband. No more tv and Xbox live for me and the children. I am going to allow the Lord to make life more interesting. Don't worry though, I will still be a loyal reader of Gears, since I have internet at the office. Peace, Jim (Seth, Liv and Luke). p.s. the kids don't know yet (man are they in for a surprise).

What's up with the little TV? I guess the owner isn't too bright. S/he hasn't figured out how to work the "picture in picture" function.

Kudos to those of you that have traded in television for natural, God inspired entertainment.
It has been over 25 years since I last owned a television set and with the exception of being forced to sit in a room with a droning set while visiting relatives, have not been subjected to the idiot box.

Sometimes I get the news a bit later than others, but if it is important enough, eventually the information filters its way down to me.

Having only recently found Tony's blog, it will now be a regular visit on my weekly email check- in for news from family over seas!

Keep up the good work people... we can make a difference, even if it is only in our own lives and in the lives of those we love...

I love my bigscreen tv as much as the next guy, but anyone who would put it in front of a view like that ought to be ridiculed in public, so thanks for the opportunity!

Posted by: MLP at August 7, 2007 3:17 PM

At the very least, move that darn idiot box out of that room. I promise that the Godview would be infinitely more interesting....mmmmm.sunlight on waves, the occasional seagull, a dolphin or two, the majestic tail flukes of a whale, a sailing ship, even a seaside storm complete with lightning.

Oh, and stars. How could I forget the starrrrrrs?

(dreamy contemplative look)

a rhetorical question...

How do you see the screen in that situation?
You have full daylight right behind it...

I work for the company that hosts the listing photo. This site was in our website stats as a top referrer thanks to views of the photo on here, so know that you have a large following.

BTW, the listing is on Minnesota's north shore of Lake Superior, half way from Duluth to Two Harbors. www.edinarealty.com/130007 if you are curious. I agree, the TV needs to be in a back room.
