Biting the Hand

Those of you without a WORLD magazine subscription should first examine your personal priorities and salvation, and then head down to your local Christian bookstore and pick up this week's copy, so you can see me lay into, well, Christian bookstores.

Just bought a World subscription and now I need to spend some time examining my heart. It seems that just when we think we are clear about something, that the Lord takes us deeper. What we find is always exposing regarding who we are in the light of God's Word. What we are also surpised at is that He is Still Taking us onward. My hope is that His Word will be fullfilled. "He that has begun a good work in you will complete it." I don't trust myself even to obey, so Lord, I give that to you too.

Tony,

Today I did indeed head down to my local Christian bookstore and, lo' and behold, they don't sell World magazine. (That would be Family Christian Stores - hmmmmm - wonder if you were writing about them?). By the way, my salvation is intact and has been ever since I accepted Jesus as Savior. My personal priorities are, however, continually evolving - with certain times that leave alot to be desired.

Fortunately we do have a WORLD subscription, so we did not have to go anywhere to get a copy. Your article was fantastic. My husband and I love reading your blog & are so glad to see you in WORLD.

The article was PURRRRR-fect.

Best question to ask while in a Christian bookstore: "Where do you hang the Scandinavian Jesus pictures?"

For me its not so much the things of wildly bad taste as that those things are priced OUTRAGEOUSLY, as if the store is taking advantage of people not smart enough to have good taste!

As my husband has pointed out, often these Christian stores are merely stores that target Christians.

I enjoy your writing so wanted to check out your WORLD article.
Since we don't have a Christian book store in our town, I went to worldmag.com to see if I could read it online. Nope—gotta have a subscription. I decided to check out which issue it was and call a friend that subscribes to WORLD to see if I could borrow their's.
When I saw the cover picture, I thought, "Wow, the providence of God."
Some friends of ours had loaned us that very issue last week while we were visiting at their home. I dug it out and looked through it...sure enough, there was your article. Good word.
